Celebrating Colic Awareness Month

June is Colic Awareness Month, a time during which horse lovers come together to focus on learning about and raising awareness for equine colic prevention. The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) estimates more than 900,000 horses in the United States will experience an episode of colic this year. Despite these frighteningly high numbers, there is quite a bit you can do to minimize your horse's risk of colic. 

While our mission at NIGHTWATCH® is to to provide critical first alerts for early intervention to ultimately to help save horses' lives, there are numerous other companies also working to prevent colic. And this month, we'd like to salute a few of organizations making a difference for our equine friends.

Crusade Against Equine Colic. Crusade Against Equine Colic’s mission is to save as many horses as possible from deadly and debilitating bouts of equine colic through educating those horse men and women who care for them. This movement empowering all horse people to learn how to reduce our horses’ risk for colic – and to share that knowledge with fellow equestrians.
